Launch of a New CME Course on the Gut Microbiome in Immuno-Oncology

The Biocodex Microbiota Institute is pleased to highlight the launch of a new CME-accredited online course, “The Gut Microbiome in Immuno-Oncology”, now available on the Xpeer platform.

This course is led by Dr. Arielle Elkrief, medical oncologist and clinician-scientist at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), Assistant Professor at Université de Montréal, and Co-Director of the CHUM Microbiome Centre.

Co-funded by the Seerave Foundation, the program provides a comprehensive overview of the growing role of the gut microbiome in cancer immunotherapy. It explores:

  • The critical role of the gut microbiome in shaping responses and resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors in patients with solid tumors
  • The impact of antibiotic use on treatment outcomes
  • The importance of antimicrobial stewardship in oncology care
  • Emerging microbiome-targeted strategies currently under investigation in clinical trials

This initiative represents an important step in expanding microbiome education to new audiences, particularly oncologists, a key medical community increasingly concerned by microbiome-related mechanisms.

The course was officially launched in conjunction with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, a major international event gathering oncologists, researchers, industry representatives, and patient advocacy groups.

To ensure broad accessibility, the course is subtitled in French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian.
